Versace’s widower criticizes Ricky Martin

After seeing the premiere of the series American Crime Story: The Assassination of Gianni Versace (FX) starring Ricky Martin, Gianni Versace’s real boyfriend, Antonio D’Amico went head-to-head against the singer’s performance.

“The photo of Ricky Martin holding the body in his arms is ridiculous”the 58-year-old couturier also assured the British newspaper Guardian. His statements constitute the first time that D’Amico talks about the shocking death of Versace, which took place in 1997 in front of the gates of his mansion in miami-beach.

“Possibly it is the poetic reaction of the director, but that is not the way I reacted”added this over a raster image showing Martin holding the body of Versace in the style Michelangelo’s Vatican Pietà right after being killed. According to D’Amico, he never held Versace as virgin mary with the body of Jesus after his crucifixion.

The Venezuelan actor also appears in the mini series Edgar Ramirez in the role of Versace and the winner of the Oscar Penelope Cruzwho gives life to donatella versacethe late designer’s sister who took over his company after his death.

D’Amico recounted that on the day of the murder Versace had gone alone to buy a newspaper at a café near his mansion on Collins Avenue, Casa Casuarina. Upon returning, the shots that would blind him to life were heard.
