Sportsman of the Year Winners

For the first time Catherine Ibarguen and Nairo Quintana were chosen as Athletes of the Year in Colombia.

The 23-year-old cyclist had a great year, in which they highlighted his title in the Tour of Burgos and in the Tour of the Basque Country. Furthermore, in his first Tour de Francewon a stage (the 20th), was mountain champion and was the best rookie in one of the most important cycling races of the season, says a note from El Espectador, a newspaper that highlighted the election.

The note adds that, for its part, Caterine Ibarguenwho was the winner of this award in 2011, won all the stops of the Diamond League in which she participated (China, United States, Norway, France and Belgium) and also achieved gold for the first time for the country in the World Championships in Athletics that took place in Moscow 2013.

Other awardees at the ceremony were: Luis Bedoya (Best Manager), the Colombian National Team (Best Team), Fabio Parra (Life and Work Award), Carlos Rincón (Fair Play), Julio Teherán (Revelation Athlete) and the most voted by the public on the internet, where they were also chosen Quintana and Ibargüen.

Orlando Duque, the first Colombian gold medalist in the World Swimming Championships, and Mariana Pajón, gold medalist in the BMX World Championships, also received special distinctions, among others.
