United Kingdom: The new requirement to enter the country

ETA, or electronic travel authorization, is a mandatory requirement for all those who wish to visit the United Kingdom As of January 8, 2025, a measure that had already been implemented for some countries previously.

This digital permit, similar to an electronic visa, allows the British authorities Verify the identity of travelers before its arrival and thus reinforce border security to avoid international incidents.

To have greater border control, the United Kingdom will ask a new requirement to travelers.

What is the ETA?

The Electronic travel authorization, Better known as ETAit is a document that the United Kingdom has extended as a mandatory requirement for all visitors as of January 8, 2025. Initially limited to travelers in the Middle East, this new requirement will now apply to Citizens of Europe, the United States and the rest of the world.

When will you need to have the ETA?

All travelers who wish to visit the United Kingdom must have the ETA if:

  • They make a short -term visit (Up to 6 months), either tourism, visit family and friends, short -term businesses or studies of less than 6 months.
  • Request a visa for innovative workersto work in the United Kingdom in a highly qualified position that requires innovative skills and experience.
  • They travel through a United Kingdom airporteven if they do not go through the border control of the country.
