Your life

Saturn is a very old God who was honored in the region before Rome was built; The Capitoline hill was previously known as Mons Saturnius and its temple resided at the base of the hill and housed the state’s treasure. Later, he was equated with the Greek God Cronos and in the third century, the myths and the family tree of Cronos had applied to Saturn, although he maintained his own complex personality; although it can be difficult to separate the true saturn from the Cronos-Saturnal Hellenized compound.

Saturn had two consorts. The first was the goddess Lua, to which the weapons of the defeated enemies were offered, and later matched with PAHO, the goddess of agriculture. He is Jupiter’s father.

Ovid describes a golden age of the man under the domain of Saturn, similar to that of Cronos described by Hesiod. During this time, humans had everything they needed without the need to work hard to get it and lived as the same. There is a tradition that this period coincided with the government of a mortal saturn king who later became God or that King Saturn was the God, coming to Earth after being expelled by Jupiter, who taught people to cultivate grapes and other agricultural crops. Perhaps that is the time that is remembered with Saturnalia in December, on the anniversary of the dedication of the temple of Saturn in the Capitoline hill.

Saturn symbols

Saturn appears often veiled and wearing a sickle. According to Plutarch, he is veiled because he is the father of truth. Sometimes it appears listed and supported by a cane or crutches.

The feet of the temple statue were tied except during the saturnal; The crippled saturn and tied feet may be related in some way.

The god Saturn gives his name to the planet Saturn already Saturday.
