The minimalist design is present in this small house | Digest Architectural

«It was my main house, a purchase, a first investment,» confesses the young architect Marco Vieira about This small house with a single plant minimalist design at the garden level. «I did the work to four hands in what cannot be described in any other way that a DIY project, a great media economy and a good opportunity to face the realization after design.» In retrospect, one can see the magnitude of the task between hands: combine a shed and a garage in a single floor with few openings – glass brush and a main door – a north exhibition, the shadows projected by the surrounding buildings … and take into account only what can do the human hand, since the work would be carried out by two people, and the only access for tools and materials would be a work door broad.

The great window of the room and its fixed oak panel, a twist that gives charm to this small house, encased among the surrounding buildings.

The openings, carefully placed, provide light and leakage lines for sight. From the kitchen the room is slightly dominated, arranged around a center of Poul Jeppesen from 1959 and old armchairs (Galerie Mobler), a sofa Outline Studio (MUUTO IN SILVERA). Hanging lamps UNFOLD (MUUTO).

In addition, the limitation of housing two rooms composed of a kitchen, a full bathroom and an independent bedroom in 27 square meters seems almost impossible. The architect has worked the space trying to separate without closing. This is the direction of the slope that has been preserved between the room and the kitchen, or of the closet-arted block created to separate the bedroom from the room, but that does not reach the ceiling: «I have created two bedrooms, one private for the bedroom and another more open for the dining room.» As for the openings, Marco Vieira placed the windows in the upper part of the bedroom, the bathroom and the kitchen, which allows to see without being seen and, in the case of the kitchen, also fulfill the necessary technical ventilation function. In the dining room and the room, although the glazing is of similar size, a fixed wooden element creates a geometry that reminds of the constructions of Louis Carré or Alvar Aalto, which worked with windows compositions throughout its width. An electric blind has its engine embedded in the facade, in an aesthetic concern that Marco Vieira He never loses sight of to maintain minimalist design.
