Rescue Bear Dushi

At the beginning of the month, the three-legged bear ended her hibernation and became more active again. Dushi slept for over 6 months. That’s quite a lot for a bear that has never had a chance to hibernate.
Unfortunately, the carers are a bit worried about her at the moment, because the bear’s behavioral problems have increased since the end of the hibernation. She often seems stressed and seeks shelter in her box. However, this behavior is not really surprising, because after such a long period of sleep Dushi has to settle down again. We give her the time she needs and the on-site team lovingly takes care of the bear.

Since Dushi’s arrival in BÄRENWALD Müritz more than two years ago, 2019, a new phase of life has begun for Bärin Dushi. Today, the three-legged bear has settled well into her new surroundings, despite her disabilities from her hard past life. After regular vet check-ups, her health has greatly improved. Dushi can often be seen in the meadow relaxing or playing with the water in her pond. She often plays in the grass and picks the blooming dandelions.

She enjoys the watermelon popsicles and smoothie popsicles that our keepers prepare when the temperatures warm up. When it comes to food preferences, Dushi is quite picky, but at the moment she loves to eat carrots.
