«Pride is a family, a board, a place of resistance.»
Many people say what LGTBIQA+ pride is for.
They say it from a place where no one has questioned who they are.
In which they have not felt afraid of being one.
They say it from a place where their identities and orientations are approved, celebrated, and represented.
In which they have always been possible.
If pride is needed, it is for claiming the existence of diversity.
The possibility of being.
And it may seem silly when you exist and that’s it.
Yes, but for many people existing is a danger.
It is not because the world is like that but because people are like that.
Because people make life difficult for others.
To keep us safe.
Because we need someone else who is not like us to have power.
When in reality we are all the same.
We are made of the same particles as those of a meteorite.
Or a sterlica.
Human beings are responsible for the margin of existence that we leave to others.
Not because others don’t have the right to exist.
They have it.
But because all existences are worthy.
When you with your words, your beliefs or ideas, with your actions.
You make someone who only pretends to exist feel bad.
What you are doing is making their life more complicated.
Less livable.
And life is already screwed.
We already have so much shit.
That’s almost the only thing we can really do.
Pretty much the only thing we have agency over.
It is in the treatment we provide to others.
And not out of pity or condescension.
There is nothing to tolerate either.
What it is about is not believing that what is yours is the only thing.
The normal.
Or what deserves something.
The point is that we have only one chance in the world.
And you don’t have to be a bad person to waste your time making others who aren’t you feel disgusted.
They want to kill themselves.
Pride is a family, a board, a place of resistance.
It is the affection that people need to continue loving, desiring and being.
It’s the goodnight kiss on the forehead that says I love you for who you are.
I want you free.
And I will always love you.
