The roof, for example, is formed by two huge triangular concrete covers, highlighting the volumes and preserving the interior precious, where the vegetation becomes an integral part of the domestic scene thanks to the floor to ceiling windows. There are no limits between the interior and the outside, and in all spaces this is the key concept. As for the garden, the owner went to the landscape architect Eric Nagelmann, Expert in tropical plants, since – despite the minimalist interiors and the Californian climate, extremely dry – he dreamed of the triumph of the vegetation greenery, inspired by the exotic paradises of Bali and Tahiti, Some of your favorite places.
The result is a country of wonders where palm trees, white scent, fig trees and bamboo plants cohabit in a very well thought out forest with its hair of ferns, heliconias and vines. By following the concrete paths, we find some artistic facilities, such as the Sky Box, of the artist James Turrell : A room with a folding roof and a bed from which a «colored» sky can be admired, thanks to a special optical effect. For Goldstein, who recently donated the complex – including art collections and haute couture garments – to Los Angeles County Art Museum, Art, as well as sport, fashion, nature and architecture, is a breath of fresh air. And his residence-oasis proves it.
