Mermaids are fish-women of great beauty and with a beautiful voice.

Legend has it that they were human beings in the past, but were turned into a fish by unknown powers. There are also theories about a type of winged mermaid that ended up degenerating into the fish-woman we know today. In fact, in ancient Greece, mermaids were represented as birds with the torso of a woman.

The aquatic mermaid, the best known today, has the upper part of the body of a beautiful woman with tanned skin and blonde or greenish hair. Its underside is that of a fish with a tail and green, silver, or brown scales. His complexion is similar to that of human beings, with the same weight and height. However, they are more long-lived than humans since they usually live about 150 years.

Their diet is based on algae, plankton and small fish. To breathe under the sea, they use the scales of their fish part, which allow them to spend several days underwater without having to surface.

The males are known as mermen or newts. The society of these beings is strongly patriarchal. Their towns are installed on cliffs and reefs. They are built with corals and sea shells. They like to live in peace and harmony with their environment.

Mermaids are very flirtatious and love to decorate their hair with corals and shells. They usually come to the surface and lie down on rocks to sing their songs. The siren’s song is very sweet and melodious. Many sailors have found death when listening to this suggestive song.
