From the snake to the crow, many animals settled in the popular imaginary of witch legends.

But there is one that stands out on all others as the universal family of the witches: the cat.

Because? What does this mysterious and elusive creature have that makes it a legendary companion of the sorceress?

Why is cats associated with witches?

The Greek goddess Hekate is one of the oldest symbols of a witch and her cat. Goddess of magic and the moon, Hekate’s kinship with cats is legendary.

Later, during the judgments to the witches of medieval Europe, the cat had a specially strange reputation for changing form, a witch to feline and vice versa.

The parrot will betray you.

But the cat? The cat is not a blow.

As in the saying «love, daring and keep silent. » The cat has an apparently inherent understanding that the more you leave without saying, the more powerful your magical power is.

Cats feel comfortable as outcasts.

All, at some point in our lives, we will play the role of marginalized. Sometimes we deserve it. Sometimes no.

In any case, at these times of life, I encourage you all to look at the cat to guide you.

The cat has been venerated as sacred. But the cat has also been expelled from home, looked suspiciously by society and, at various times in history, condemned by the Church as the incarnation of the devil himself.

Guess what? The cat did not matter.

He just followed his own. Robbing medieval Europe and killing rats that infested the population with the bubonic plague. No one thanked her, and she didn’t need them.

They are teachers of grace and dignity.

Simultaneously earthly and elevated, the mythical grace of the cat is a reminder that when you fall, it is best to stand up.

Use the cat when you feel exhausted or your words overcome you. Because the cat is always the image of dignity.

(Except when wet. That is always a disaster. But nobody is perfect).

Cats are mysterious.

The eyes of a cat do not betray anything. They are not empty or overflowing with emotions.

Like royalty, they know the value of containing, revealing their true nature selectively and with wisdom.

Their mystery gives them a certain charm that I yearn to emulate.

This dark aura connects them with the veil among the worlds combining them as messengers of this kingdom to the next.

They are fierce.

Despite the grace, dignity and mystique mentioned above, if you get with a cat, you will receive the same treatment.

And that, my friends, it is an ingenious trick.
