Mayan architecture that inspired Frank Lloyd Wright

The other significant example of Mayan influence on Frank Lloyd Wright is the Ennis House. Built in 1924 in the Bohemian neighborhood Los Feliz de los Angeles, this structure rises on concrete blocks with a Textile Block Design Geometric that gives her a unique appearance, which has led her to appear in films such as 'Blade Runner' (1982).

Inside, Ennis House seems to simulate a Mayan Palace with corridors and columns that maintain a fragmented sensation which is revealed in each block and forms spaces such as bodies of water or windows, which allow the access of light despite the materials.

Some pre -Columbian elements joined in the style of Lloyd Wright and today are recognized worldwide. The doctor and art collector Álvar Carrillo Gil expressed his astonishment for Wright's work and assured that the Guggenheim, opened in 1959, was inspired by the observatory known as El Caracol de Chichen Itzá, while concluding with a question: «Why have our architects not gone to the sources of Mayan architectural art to look for the treasures that Frank Lloyd Wright has managed to obtain for his own greatness?

The Guggenheim was the last great work of the architect. Opened in 1959, the same year that Lloyd Wright died at age 91.
