For 16 years inhabited by José Manuel Bárcena Ortega, Casa-Jardín Ortega, was designed and built by Luis Barragán between 1940 and 1942, who was also a guest until 1947. In fact, it was the first residence he designed for himself. After the architect, it was acquired by the artist Platero Alfredo Ortega and inherited his nephew José Manuel.
The current owner of the architectural work told us that within the universe of Luis Barragán, this is a transition house, an experimentation, because it was where he began to look for a more convenient architecture for what he wanted: spaces that caused him emotion, that would fill him ethically. In addition, he mentioned that he has found Arab and Ferdinand Bac influences that resulted in an architecture without infinite walls.
