Lilith’s myth

In the Bible there are two versions of the creation of man. In the first chapter of Genesis, it is written:

«God created man in his image, in the image of God he created them; Male and female created them.»

Therefore, it is clear that the man and the woman were created together. However, at another time, in the second chapter, it is said that God, after creating man, convinced himself that he was not right alone and made him fall into a deep sleep.

In fact, according to what Ben Sira’s alphabet recounts and according to what is written in other texts such as Sefer Ha-Zohar and the splendor book, Lilith did not accept that they made her procreate, keep silent and be the companion of Adam. On the contrary, he wanted to face him and master him:

«She said: ‘I will not stay under you!’

Adam’s attitude caused the indignation and fury of Lilith, to the point that he decided to invoke God, pronouncing his name out loud: this was considered an disrespectful act, especially if a woman performed it and caused the immediate punishment of the first woman, who was expelled from Eden.

Lilith del Eden: Asmodeus’s companion

There are at least three versions of Lilith’s destiny outside Eden: the first account that was confined in the Red Sea caves, where he would continue to live dedicating himself to pagan rites in full harmony with nature.

On the other hand, the second version says that he was a lover of all the demons of the world: in essence, once he left the garden of God, he would have bedded with the demons present on earth to demonstrate that he did not need divine grace.

This version, however, would be forced and is not very valid for Lilith’s followers, who point out that, since there are only two human beings in a still pure land, there could certainly be not many demons.

A third version says that Lilith could return to Eden as long as she became the protector of all newborns. Lilith, however, saw him as an affront: taking care of children who were not his would be a punishment. Therefore, it seems that he moved away until he met the demon Asmodeus.

Between them there was an instant love or, at least, something that looked like it; It seems that they chose each other as partners and that Lilith gave birth to many Lilim, or children of the devil, also called Jinn.

At this point, it seems that once again God tried to bring her back. He commissioned three angels, Senoy, Sansenoy and Semanelof for looking for her. The three did not use the right strategy: they ordered him to return to death, but she replied that he could not return with Adam after having had a relationship with a demon and that he could never die because he had become immortal.

At that time, the angels told him that they would kill all their children; She replied that, if so, she would have reserved the same destiny to any son of Adam.

Finally, he begged the three angels to leave, saying that he would live far from his former couple and that in the future he would suffice to name the names of Los Angeles to placate his anger against any human descendant.

Lilith and Lucifer, Legend and Feminism

Another version, often extracted from literature, television series and cinema, describes Lilith as Lucifer’s partner. Basically, it seems that Lilith at some point has moved far, far from the places where he lived previously.
