Kraken – Mythological and Fantastic Beings

The kraken is a huge underwater monster found in oceans and deep seas.

Its size is only comparable to that of certain red and gold dragons, being in many cases larger than these. It can measure about 90 meters high on average. When it approaches the surface and remains still, it can be mistaken for an island.

Its appearance resembles that of a giant octopus with numerous tentacles and huge red eyes with which it controls any movement of other creatures, both inside and outside the water. Its tentacles have suckers about 2 meters in diameter. It also has two special tentacles, covered with sharp tabs, which it uses to attack.

Like any cephalopod, the kraken is capable of expelling black ink to escape from its enemies, although it is hard to believe that a being like this would need to escape, except from another angry kraken. Not even leviathan itself is comparable in strength or size.

Kraken sightings have been going on for centuries and have been most frequent off the North Atlantic and Norwegian coasts. In fact, a Norwegian bishop described the kraken in 1752, and stated that the blackness of the Norwegian waters was due to the animal’s defense mechanism.

Sailors feared the apparition of this terrible being more than anything, and nervously watched the deep waters in the hope of not seeing any abundant bubbling, a sign that the kraken was already too close.

When the kraken appears or one of its tentacles emerges, it is no longer necessary to run. Once it has spotted its victims, it launches its attack, hitting them and wrapping its tentacles around them while it drags them into its terrible jaws.

There are rumors about tropical islands that have been completely empty, both of animals and humans, after the passage of the evil animal.

His lairs are several thousand meters under the sea and are true cave complexes in which he deposits the remains of corpses that he has not eaten, so he can keep them until his appetite awakens again.
