Although colloquially known as dark circles, the medical definition of this discoloration under your eyes is called “idiopathic hyperchromia of the orbital ring”. We tell you how to use arnica to treat them and make them disappear.

These black bags or spots on the eyelids do not fall within any aesthetic canon, which is why eye contour and blemish concealer are usually the best friends of people who have them.

We have previously written about how to remove dark circles in 5 minutes using just two spoons and how to remove them quickly using baking soda.

Now, a third home remedy is incorporated with arnica. The best of all is that these are not just practices spread by users on the internet, but they are endorsed by a dermatologist.

Board-certified dermatology specialist Kim Nichols, MD, founder of NicholsMD in Greenwich, confirmed this trend on TikTok promoting arnica as the ultimate, definitive treatment for dark circles.

Nichols explained to Well+Good that This botanical ingredient, known for its anti-inflammatory properties, works by stimulating white blood cells to relieve congestion under the skin.

He assured that although there are anti-dark circle creams that contain arnica, it is much cheaper to buy Arnidol Gel Sticks, a stick for bruises in children.

The balm combines arnica with another botanical anti-inflammatory called Devil’s Claw, and can literally make dark circles disappear with a single swipe.

You just have to keep in mind that not all skin reacts the same way. If your face normally reacts to plant-based ingredients, it is best to perform a patch test or consult your dermatologist before adding arnica, which is a plant derivative.
