Orchids are delicate flowers that require attention. This is why many people buy the plant and are frustrated when it dies. What many don’t know, however, is that there are several species of orchids – and each one of them needs different special care. Some of them are common to all of them and can keep your plant alive longer.
Check out 4 tips from Flores Online to take care of your orchids at home:
1- Unlike the succulents, Orchids need a lot of water! put it in room temperature, as the stems, flowers and leaves are delicate and can be injured by ice cubes, for example. Tip: leave the water in a bucket overnight (in an enclosed area to avoid dengue) and then water the plant with it.
2- Don’t soak the vase, because they don’t like standing water at the roots. take off the excess water or choose a plastic or clay pot with holes.
3- Orchids are highly recommended for offices and small apartments, as they are plants that they like shade. A daily sunbath of at least two hours, however, can help them become more flowery and alive – it can be the sun that hits the window or balcony.
4- The most suitable fertilizer for orchids is bokashi. You can take a cloth that is not waterproof, such as TNT or pantyhose fabric, add two teaspoons of bokashi and tie with a wire forming a shell on the edge of the vase. Do not be alarmed if the bokashi sachet withers and develops mold, as this is normal for this natural fertilizer and does not harm the orchid.
