Visitor Question or Comment:

How much is 1 mega in Kbps

Response from ALEGSA.com.ar:

Hi Hipolito.

I tell you that 1 megabit (the typical 1 MEGA advertised by internet access advertisements) is equivalent to 1000 kbps (kilobits per second).

So if you have an 8 «meg» connection, this equates to 8 mbps (megabit per second) or 8000 kbps (kilobit per second). I suggest you read our article: mbps to understand better.

You should note that kbps (kilobit per second) is NOT the same as KB/Sec (kilobyte per second). One speaks of transfer of bits and the other of transfer of bytes.

But how many kilobytes do they correspond to? 1 mbps = 1000 kbps is equivalent to 125 kilobytes per second (KB/sec) of download. To do the conversion you must divide by 8.
