A hippocampus is a hybrid with characteristics of a fish and a horse.

Physically it has the head, torso and upper legs of a horse, although the hooves are replaced by fins. The underside is that of a large fish, with a tail that can be up to 4 meters long. Its body is covered in scales except for the horse part, which has short hair. Its color varies between green and blue.

Seahorses are peaceful although, if threatened, they fight by clenching their jaws and crushing their prey. The normal thing is that they are not attacked, since they are very fast and few animals can reach them.

These beings have many characteristics similar to the horse, although the seahorses are much more intelligent. They are often domesticated by sea-dwelling humanoids such as mermaids, sea elves, and mermen. They are perfect as marine mounts.

They can live in fresh and salt water and can even breathe air, although they need to be close to water to avoid drying out. They are herbivores and feed on algae and soft vegetation.

Seahorses are also the lifeguards of the sea, they rescue anyone who falls into the water, especially fishermen who, once rescued, are often grateful for life to the benevolent seahorses.
