Summer is the perfect time to discover new natural cornersand some of them are closer to big cities than you imagine.
Today I will talk to you about a very refreshing route to do in summerwhich is only 30 minutes from Barcelona. If you are in Barcelona you will not even need to take the car, you can easily get to the beginning of the route by train. The ideal place for nature lovers looking for a easy, rewarding and accessible natural route.
Water and nature next to Barcelona
Located in the Baix Llobregat region, between Corbera de Llobregat and Sant Andreu de la Barcathere is an idyllic natural setting, with a stream, a pool and small waterfalls, ideal for taking a easy and refreshing route in the summer monthswhen what you most want is to soak in the water.
It is about the Gorg of the Molaa natural jewel nestled between rocks and surrounded by lush Mediterranean vegetation that invites you to stop and enjoy the tranquility of nature.
Despite his proximity to Barcelona and the other municipalities that we have mentioned, this beautiful corner with a canyon and a waterfall that falls through the rocks to create a pool of crystalline waters, is still one of those places worth discovering.
The route to the Gorg de la Mola
Although administratively it belongs to Corbera de Llobregat, the easiest and most comfortable access to the Gorg de la Mola is from Sant Andreu de la Barca, which can be easily reached by train from Barcelona (the Sant Andreu de la Barca train station is just a 20-minute walk from the start of the route).
The path to the Gorg de la Mola begins near the intersection of Lluís Companys and Josep Tarradellas streets from Sant Andreu de la Barca, where there is public parking (although finding a space can be difficult in summer or on weekends).
From there, the route runs along a dirt track towards the La Soleia urbanization. Soon you will find a sign indicating the Gorg de la Mola that leads to a small path that forks to the left.
The path, about 1.7 kmit is easy and mostly flat, between the forest and through reddish lands, ideal for families with children. However, the final descent to the waterfall is steeper and the stones can be slippery, so be careful and wear mountain shoes. It can be done in just over half an hourwith stops to regain strength or refresh.
The final reward, a pool of crystal clear waters in the middle of naturewell worth the trip, especially in summer if you want to take a revitalizing dip. It must be taken into account, however, that the flow of the waterfall depends on recent rains and that in summer it can be quite full.
Waterfalls and pools shaped by nature
This route is spectacular not only because of the final pool with its waterfallalso because of the nature that surrounds it, with forest and small pools where you can cool your feet, streams…
And it is that he final stretch of the Riera de Corbera has left spectacular reddish sandy rock shapes eroded by waterwhich form fairy-tale waterfalls and pools.
In recent years, this route has become quite popular and it is common to find Quite a lot of people on weekends, especially in summer (and also garbage). So that you can continue enjoying its beauty, it is important to respect the environment and always carry a bag with you to collect all the dirt we generate.
