Elf – Mythological and Fantastic Beings

Elves are one of the oldest and most venerable races known. Fragile and delicate in appearance, they are easily recognizable by their pointed ears, pale skin, and almond-shaped eyes. They live for hundreds of years, and are even thought to be immortal.

Despite being less bulky than humans, they have greater agility and dexterity in their movements. An elf moves with grace and delicacy, and in such a subtle and silent way that, sometimes, its presence is imperceptible. This allows them to remain stealthy to spy or make a surprise attack. In fact, elves can be practically invisible when they are among the trees, in the wild.

They are great connoisseurs of the forests in which they live and their clothes in green tones allow them to camouflage themselves even more within this habitat.

Elves have developed infravision, so it is not difficult for them to move at night or between tall and dense groves where sunlight does not enter.

The elves’ skill with the bow is famous. They are trained from a young age and, although they also master the short and long sword, it is with the bow that an elf can achieve the best results. Their agility allows them to shoot an arrow and quickly prepare for a new shot.

Elven women are also prepared to fight. There are even legends about an army of elf maidens, mounted on unicorns, who achieved great achievements and victories.

Elves usually live in camps of about 100 to 200 elves and in their society there are few and very basic rules. In these camps they usually enjoy joyful and pleasant activities such as dancing, music and poetry.

In addition to the high elves (those described above), we can distinguish 4 more types of elves:

wild elves

They have darker skin and yellow, orange, or reddish hair, but with age their hair turns white, making them more drow-like. They are tribal and wilder than the high elves, and are considered the true and primal elves. They tend to use force before intelligence, however, they are not usually aggressive and will avoid confrontation as much as possible. They have a close relationship with the ent, dryads and other beings of the forest.

gray elves

Also known as elf elves. They are silver-haired and usually live outside the forest, preferably in cities and fortresses. They are very studious beings who like to write treatises on nature. They often ride griffins and use them to escape or fight when threatened.

half-elves

They are from a human and an elf. They have intermediate characteristics between the races. They have the infravision of the elves, but are not as skilled with a bow and sword as an elf can be. Their average life tends to be about 125 years.

water elves

They can breathe in water and inhabit seas and oceans, where they coexist in perfect harmony with other marine species. Its skin is bluish-green and its fingers and toes are slightly webbed. Out of the water they can last a few hours before beginning to weaken, so it is not common to see them on dry land unless necessary. The seahorses are the mounts most used by these elves.
