Stockman chose to surround the mirror with a vibrant mural in his bathroom: «The world of design is adopting ornamentation and floriture at this time, which excites me because it is my natural inclination,» he explains. Stockman is especially inspired by Jean Cocteau's house in the French Riviera: «He painted majestic figures and motifs of old appearance on his walls to frame his shelves or portals,» he explains. «Cocteau carried the real and lived elements of a room to the context of his capricious works of art, and the effect is that the house itself became a work of art.» Seeking to replicate this effect of «room as art» in its own space, Stockman painted a mural with his favorite tones, inspired by the Mogoles paintings that cover the walls of Jaipur (India), as well as in the classic Audubon engravings of spoonbill birds. «There is something extremely liberating to row and paint directly on the wall,» he says. «Satisfies a primary impulse of childhood to treat the walls as blank canvases«
Relive a mirror with paint
The creator of Mallory Fletcheall content, from Reserve Home, was very happy when she finally located an old mirror that fit perfectly among the windows of the room of her department in Brooklyn. Using a combination of three colors rub-n-buff, Fletchall could return to the mirror his golden glory: «As soon as we did, the mirror looked like an original piece that came with the apartment,» he adds.
Raise the design with a resin mold
The blogger Arin swears gave a simple mirror, demonstrating that Even the most basic pieces can be transformed into elegant decorative objects. The first step was to frame the mirror. Jura mounted a mirror without a frame in a piece of wood to give it stability. He also added tools to the rear, and then cut another piece of wood -shaped wood, which fixed to the upper part of the mirror: «We made sure to leave an additional space on the mirror to add decorative elements to the upper part of the mirror, and it was a cheap way to add height,» he says. Jura used decorative molds to build a mirror frame, added two ornamental pieces to the top and created other small elegant parts using resin molds, which then hit with hot glue. Jura suggests painting the golden mirror and then finishing off the piece with Rub-N-Buff to give it an ancient appearance.
