Built between 1847 and 1849, the wing this houses the famous balcony in which the royal family meets in its public appearances, as in the June trooping. The addition closed what had previously been an U -shaped patio and was built to offer more space to the growing family of Queen Victoria.

The lotus spider of the central hall was one of the many pieces preserved in the last five years.
