The basilisk was known since ancient times as «the little king» or «the king of snakes», because it was thought to be the worst and most terrible of all reptiles. Pliny the Elder described it as a dragon with the head of a rooster and a golden crest (simulating a crown). On other occasions it was described as a snake without wings, but the truth is that, with or without wings, basilisks are horrible reptiles that are greatly feared for their power of petrification.
common basilisk
This basilisk is possibly the best known. It is a hybrid being between a rooster, a reptile and a bat.
The conditions for the birth of a basilisk to occur are quite complicated: the basilisk will hatch from an egg rejected by the hen and which is not oval, but round. This egg must be incubated by a reptile.
The basilisk has the body and face of a rooster, the neck and tail of a reptile, and the ugly wings of a bat. The males also have a crest and beards. The tail has scales and is topped with some feathers. His eyes have an intense and overwhelming shine.

These beings have a special power: to turn everything they touch into stone. That’s why they are very dangerous enemies. If your opponent is not wearing proper protection, he will try to melee and use his pick to petrify. Only metal armor resists its power. Basilisks are immune to the petrifying power of other basilisks.
Saurian Basilisk
These basilisks are quite large reptiles, about 2 meters. They have 8 legs, their scales are brownish-green, and their eyes are bright green. They are not very intelligent and their movements are slow and heavy.

Within this variety are also the «major basilisk-saurs», which have the same characteristics as the basilisk saurians except for their larger size and somewhat more developed intelligence. They are frequently used to keep treasures because they have, in addition to their petrifying gaze, a fetid poisonous breath. Their claws also have venom but weaker.
pyrolisk
There is another type of basilisk called a pyrolisk, and it is apparently the same as the common basilisk but has a single red tail feather. Her wings are also reddish. This variety is much more dangerous than the basilisk, as its gaze is capable of setting fire to any living thing that stares at the pyrolisk. They are immune to fire and fire-related magic. His natural enemy is the phoenix, the magical bird that burns in flames to be reborn from its ashes.
