According to the Popular Art Panoramic of the Cultural Information System (SIC) – Mexican handicrafts and reference reference – the technique is predominantly in the northwest region, specifically in Sinaloa, Chihuahua and Baja California, artisan María Eugenia Meza Vaquero de la Huerta, Kumiai, author of the pieces we observe. However, similar variations move throughout the country: in Campeche we find Palma de Jipi woven and applied in hats; In Guerrero, dyeing palm; in Colima and Michoacán, Otate basketry; In Hidalgo, Carrizo and in the State of Mexico, the same type of basketry as Maria.

Known as mayolic in Spain and Latin America, the origin of the Talavera Data from the colony, a factor for which the ornaments of the type are common in novohispanas structures. In Mexico it is located in Puebla and Tlaxcala, the latter being the state of origin of Daniel Joel Tezmol Contreras, author of these pieces.
