After eight years, Lady Gaga was once again headliner of Coachella this 2025, and his return to the main stage of the most popular music festival in the world was in style, as his set, which closed the first day, lasted almost two hours divided into five acts in the style of a play.
Each segment was more captivating than the lastboth visually and musically, thanks to the fact that there were weeks of work prior to the show by a talented team of experts in different areas of musical production to create the scenarios, choreographies and costumes that left the present and virtual audience with their mouths open from beginning to end. Would you like to discover the meaning of each of its stagings? Pay attention that here we will tell you what we know so far so that you can better appreciate its second presentation next Friday, April 18.
Lady Gaga took conceptual dressing to the next level during her Coachella 2025 performance
How do you top what Gaga did?
Long live Alexander McQueen
The British designer, known for his disruptive worldview of fashion, was one of Gaga’s great collaborators in creating her multiverses, as both shared a keen appreciation for theatrical clothing. In honor of her beloved creative partner, with whom she made the Armadillo boots a fashion icon, the artist referenced some of her memorable catwalks in her show, such as the three-dimensional chess board of ‘It’s Only a Game’ 2005 during ‘Poker Face’, or the ethereal wings of the parade ‘Scanners’ from 2003 that he wore during ‘Paparazzi’.
Occupational hazards
In 2013, while presenting his ‘Born This Way Ball’ world tour, Lady Gaga suffered a serious injury to her left hip which forced her to cancel 21 shows to undergo delicate treatment that included surgery. It seems that this was a canonical event in the singer’s life, as she gave a nod to that “broken” part of her body in the ‘Bad Romance’ costumes with a bloody line on her white Matières Fécales dress. Additionally, during ‘Paparazzi’, he used two metal crutches that extended from his shoulders to represent the trauma treatments he has required throughout his career.

Lady Macbeth
Perhaps the most impressive number was the first, as it not only included fragments of ‘Bloody Mary’, ‘Abracadabra’ and ‘Judas’, but also took place among a vibrant red stage with Gaga wrapped in a magnanimous matching dress with a sculptural skirt (literally) designed by Samuel Lewis, Athena Lawton and William Ramseur, who were inspired by the costumes of Thierry Mugler for the play, ‘Lady Macbeth’.
