Two Ingredient Permanent Solid Air Freshener

The well-known home remedy of baking soda, with multiple uses in the home, beauty, health and more, too It has the ability to absorb bad odors. A handful of ingredients and utensils are enough for your homemade air freshener:

Ingredients:

  • 100-150 g baking soda
  • 10-20 drops of essential oil, preferably orange, which is relatively inexpensive (available in organic stores)
  • 1 wide-mouth jar without lid
  • 1 piece of cloth to cover, a little larger than the mouth of the jar
  • 1 rubber band or a piece of rope

Elaboration:

  1. Fill the jar halfway with baking soda and add essential oil depending on how intense you want the fragrance to be.
  2. Secure the fabric to the glass with an elastic band or a piece of string. If the fabric is very thick or tight, make small holes with a toothpick to improve air circulation.
  3. Before placing it in the bathroom or toilet, shake the bottle to mix the baking soda and essential oil. If the effect disappears after a while, it can be reactivated by shaking the mixture.
  4. Instead of the refreshingly scented, antibacterial orange oil, you can use another essential oil of your choice, such as lavender oil, cinnamon oil, or eucalyptus oil.

Eliminates odors throughout the house

Baking soda can be used in many other ways. It also eliminates bad odors in other places, dry or dissolved in water. For example, you can make a textile mix or an anti-odor spray for shoes with just a few ingredients.

Room spray works even better when supplemented with baking soda, and the dishwasher smells better when you treat it with a Dishwasher deodorizer with baking soda. Even the strong smell of the cat’s litter box can be reduced with baking soda.

Air freshener with mikados

Ingredients:

  • 80 ml of alcohol (you can use vodka or pomace, a higher alcohol concentration is not necessary)
  • 10 ml of glycerin (available in pharmacies)
  • 150 drops (6-8 ml) of the essential oil of your choice
  • 1 bottle with a narrow neck with a capacity of about 100 ml
  • 3-6 wooden sticks (e.g. skewers) that are twice as long as the height of the bottle

The intensity of the fragrance depends, among other things, on the evaporation surface, which can be influenced by the number and length of the rods.

  • If the aroma is too intense, remove sticks or shorten them
  • If the smell is too weak, put more sticks in the bottle
  • If the mixture smells little, you can add more essential oil to the mixture

The mikado air freshener is also used for the bathroom and toilet. for any other room in the house. If you want it to be more decorative you can use a pretty jar or you can decorate it with some ribbons or dried flowers.
