Choose a grave

Select a burial place with meaning for you and your purpose.

For example, the cemetery land of the resting place of a successful banker works well for spells that protect your financial assets.

Or, maybe you plan to use dirt in a judicial case. He collects the land of the tomb of an outstanding judge of his jurisdiction for justice and impartiality in court.

If you maintained a close personal relationship with the deceased in life, great! So much better if you maintain that relationship in death, either taking care of the place, carrying flowers or honoring them annually in Samhain.

Cemetery land collection

Excavating in a cemetery inevitably attracts unnecessary attention.

But you don’t need to attract looks with murky behavior.

For example, there is nothing especially strange or disrespectful to plant flowers in a grave (although you should consult with the gardener to make sure there are no restrictions to plant on the ground). This activity offers you a natural excuse to dig on the ground and an easy and discreet way of depositing part of the earth in a small container.

It also fulfills its obligation to leave an offering or sample of respect for the deceased.

Speaking of that: honoring the occupant’s memory is common sense. You are asking for your favor. It shows some kindness in return. Appropriate gifts for the dead libations of wine or liquor, coins or flowers.

Alternatives and substitutes for the cemetery land

(Note: This section contains affiliate links for comfort. It is a usual practice in the industry and is not really a big deal, but the FTC was uploaded to the head a few years ago and now we all have to bore them with clauses of exemption of responsibility in this regard).

If all of the above sounds irrationally weird and spooky, I understand perfectly.

You can use any of the following elements instead of the cemetery land.

Pachulí sheet

Dry, ground Pachulí is usually considered the most traditional substitute in the land of cemetery.

Coffee poses

Use high quality poses to obtain the best results. (These desire for death seem especially appropriate. LOL).

Ground cinnamon

Again, high quality floors are recommended. (To know other ways to use cinnamon in witchcraft, see 10 ways to use cinnamon in witchcraft).

10 ways to use the cemetery land

Innumerable spells and rituals require cemetery land, from death rituals to hexagonous elaborated. But it is not necessary to use it destructively.

Samhain rituals

Includes cemetery land in Samhain’s rituals to honor the dead. Spread a little through the perimeter of your magical circle to include the spirits of your ancestors in your ritual.

Communicate with the dead

If you plan to try a tarot roll to communicate with a loved one beyond the tomb, put the cemetery land in a small bag with cord and guide it with your tarot cards during a full moon cycle. During the dark moon, take the cards and read them.

At the crossroads.

The magic of the crossroads is its own something, but you know and work with it, leave some cemetery land at a crossroads when you try to decide between two paths in life.

Assign a path to symbolize one option and another to symbolize the other. (The west road for a decision based on your emotion or heart, or a path to the east to represent an intellectual decision).

Once the decision is made, travel the chosen path and spread cemetery land to «seal» the second intentions or regrets.

Get away and don’t look back.

In the garden.

During the fall, sprinkle cemetery land in the garden of your house to honor the cycle of life and encourage the dead to «return» in the form of your harvest. Lovely for people who believe in reincarnation.

Protection spells

Add cemetery land to protection bags to give an extra touch.

New beginnings

Death gives way to a new life.

If you are starting a new chapter in your life (a new job, for example, or a new vital situation), select an object that represents your past circumstances and enter it with the earth of the cemetery to leave behind your old situation with a small «closing» ritual.

Put an end to a romantic relationship

Sometimes, former lovers declare dramatically: «You’re dead for me!»

A quieter and more private statement is usually much more honest and effective.

Gather your memories of the relationship, turn on a bonfire, quote them and then pray it with cemetery land (keep in mind that this requires a fairly large amount. But it works).

Mourning

Leave on the altar a small bottle of cemetery land of a loved one who recently deceased during your mourning period to honor his memory and keep him close to the heart.

In Covens

It uses cemetery land in the rituals of Aquelarre to mean a change in leadership, a break with a major group or the end of an era in the history of the Aquelarre.

For home protection

Tour the outer perimeter of your house and sprinkle some cemetery land in all corners to protect it from the dark entities unwanted spy and negative energy.

  1. I think that the cemetery land can be powerful in ancient cemeteries where the coffin is not «buried» in a concrete vault (or similar) that seals the coffin of natural decomposition processes that contribute to the special powers of the cemetery land. I also believe that the concrete that is buried interferes with the special properties of the cemetery land, since it can deteriorate for hundreds of years sitting on the ground emitting tiny cement particles. Like plastic microfibers that are contaminating our waters. The artificial material «contaminates» the land of the cemeteries. Unlike the cemeteries that are at least 75 years old, where only one coffin was buried.

    • How is the concrete artificial?

  2. It is a fascinating reading. I am very interested in the land of the cemeteries. In fact, there is one less than ten minutes walk from my house! My only repair is that the idea of removing the earth on someone’s tomb gives me a little disgust. It is not that I judge anyone for it, of course, just that I do not think it is for me. Maybe prefer to use the land around the tombs.

    • It is definitely not for everyone. I like alternatives, such as coffee or pachulí poses.
