As every year, MDF Mexico Design Fair appointed the designer of the year, and this 2024 is Fernando Laposse. According to the MDF team, the prize was awarded for “its trajectory developed from the interaction with a wide network of collaborators, which includes sustainable and respectful practice with Mexican communities, professional work with other designers and galleries – both national and international -, while integrating important art and design collections; All this through scientific and technological experimentation from the agricultural territory and artisanal work, with an aesthetic of the very personal design object that touches the object of art, but remains faithful to the function ”.

A bit of Fernando Laposse
The designer was born in France in 1988, but is defined as Mexican. It resides between London and Mexico City. His studies cover several renowned schools, but highlights the Saint Martins Central School of Art where he specialized in product design, where he learned and fell in love with the use of natural materials such as Vegetable fibers obtained from corn, avocado and agave.
