A small 60 m2 department that emanates soft modernity

The space of sixty square meters is the Small department of a couple of graphic designers Located in Paris, which, although it is on the ground floor, is located in a building section of the street and gives a very beautiful garden. «The owners liked the view of the vegetation,» says architect Eva Helft. «But since it is a ground floor, it was important to enter all the possible light, to find transparency between the two plants.» To optimize the light and the views through the building, the space was completely redesigned. An important reform in which everything was withdrawn, including the lining of the walls, which exposed the viewed stone, which was a pleasant surprise for both the architect and the owners. The structure was reviewed to open the small departmenttransforming this square separate into four by a load wall into a fluid and open -shaped space; More than three quarters of the load wall were replaced by a beam; The floor was completely redone, and three of the four chimneys were removed.

The living room is separated from the bedroom by a large arched glass roof, tailored in natural oak. The furniture has been carefully chosen: in front of a sofa Togo (Ligne Roset), a chair Low Gropius CS1 (Noom) and a center table (Roche Bobois) offer warm tones.

To be able to get a bedroom in the tranquility of the garden and that could also receive light from Raudales, there are not so many solutions. Since the owners of the department have no children, The intimacy of the main bedroom was not a decisive criterion To take into account in the redesign of the space, so the idea of a glass wall that will separate the rest area without closing it completely and preserve the light and transparency between the night space and the rest of the common spaces quickly won. Three double -arc doors in natural oak with a studied thickness create a circulation of light and provide the proper level of separation, between glass and freely interpreted stained glass. The owners wanted a diaphanous and visually aerated apartment, so the high kitchen cabinets, essential to conserve sufficient storage space, seem to disappear after some doors created from aged mirrors, with piqué effects designed by the architect with the mirror manufacturer. «It is really the material that does everything, which works very well and also symbolizes this project», Eva Helft explains. «It was actually easy to work, since it was a couple who has pleasure and chooses very beautiful furniture.» The result was a space with An choice of natural materials in a modern environment, a mixture of eminently interesting textures and materials.
