Tejocote house It is a single -family house located in a semi -urban context in the city of Querétaro, in Mexico, designed by the office Rubber (Gonzalez muchw architecture). The land is found in a fractionation in a golf club – an artificial landscape that is foreign to the native vegetation of the region. However, «the original landscape of the semi -desert, with yellow grasslands, tissues, lollipops and nopaleras, remains visible in the vacant lots,» said the office. From there the vernacular architecturethe atmosphere, the terrible colors and the Imperfect finish of the Tejocote house.
Despite its apparent geometric simplicity, the house has openings and slopes that enrich the experience.César Béjar.
The main requirement by customers was Get privacy and integrate environments with the outside. The dynamics that the place would have “looks more like a rest residence or a haciendawhere you leave the house to the garden or the patio to go to another point of the house, ”he explained Rubber Architecture. “It was decided to erase to some extent that comfort program that we inherit from modernism. The climate is suitable for doing so. ”
Maintaining the same tone in the materials, throughout all environments, gives prominence to light and architecture.César Béjar.
Vernacular and forceful architecture
With 650 square meters of construction, the volumetry was conceived to achieve that required intimacy. The regulations of the subdivision do not allow to build fences, therefore, the house scheme itself acts as A wall that «wraps and protects habitable spaces».
The program is divided into four solid volumes that delimit a large central garden and connect through a bridge. The public area remains on the ground floor: there are the kitchen, living room and dining room; On the upper floor is the bedrooms and a family room. «The bridge works as a transitory link between spaces and a meeting place, always connected to the outside,» added the architects.
The four modules were made incisions, either to open openings that cause subtle light entrancesgrant views that frame the landscape or integrate the interior with the exterior spaces.
In the walls, incisions were made to enter the air and the light, so that they are a surprise.Ariadna Polo.
The house wants to mimicize subtly with the landscape, as if it were a stone in nature.Ariadna Polo.
Despite seeming simple geometry, they are discovered in each space different level changessuitable for the activities carried out there. “We always look for very low enclosures that contrast with a wide and unexpected height when crossing from one place to another; We seek to have darkness or transparency. We try not to open much of the openings so as not to lose the strength and privacy, and we always compensate, either with skylights or courtyardslike the sunk patio that is unnoticed by the neighbors, ”explained the rubber team.
