Behind the conception of the project of this Organic Modern Style Department There are the minds of Bella-Pia Richard, interior designer and Parisian resident, and Thomas Geerlings, the architect in front of Framework Studio, based in Amsterdam. For the French projects that the study lands, they usually work as a team. «We know from a look or in a stroke where each one wants to go,» he smiles beautiful. And as a winning team is not changed, together they conceived, designed and carried out the reform of this space of 160 square meters, located in the heart of the city of the lights. Located in a Haussmanian -style building in the early twentieth century, its owners – a young modern couple and their two children – wanted him to live in him when they are passing through the French capital. Without a doubt it is a Pied-à-Terre That we are not used to seeing every day.
Reinvent the existing
He Organic Modern Style Departmentas Bella-Pia and Framework discovered it, it already looks great. «The existing space was wide, with high roofs and arches, which we incorporate into our design. In addition, the ancient carpentry was the same color as the wood we use,» explains Bella-Pia. Without altering the soul of the place, they decided to restore the original image while recognizing the intellectual challenge of renewing a place respecting their history. It is a narrative search highly appreciated by the two architects, since «writing a new chapter based on what has already been lived» is part of what they intend to achieve with each project. In this case, they have had to start from scratch, modifying all the distribution and the circulation plan to adapt them to the lifestyle of their customers.

«The dialogue that we maintain among us-so between the client and us as designers-does a project or limits it,» says Bella-Pia, as if to underline that the field of possibilities is as wide as architecture allows once a fluid dialogue has been established. That is when it comes to integrating strong elements such as the characteristics of the Haussmann style, a sometimes narrow pitch along with the client's tastes to improve the project. Thinking in terms of sobriety and elegance becomes essential, since the owners are moved by a «desire for tranquility after the bustle of a Parisian day,» adds the architect. Their expectations were simple: space should be organized according to a logic of functional and independent units. A common area of about 70 square meters, composed of a hallway as a hall, a living room open to a dining room and a kitchen, precedes the rest of the Organic Modern Style Departmentdivided into three bedrooms. Each of them has its own full bathroom and dressing room.

«We also wanted to illustrate contemporary crafts instead of reproducing a traditional Haussmann style pastiche of marble and stone scattered throughout the corners of the place, which serve as a sink, shelves or shower banks.
