This house mixes the Gothic style with modern and color touches

In 2021, with the pandemic as a backdrop, this couple looked for the perfect home for their family. They found him in the form of A four -story Gothic style house In the Lawrence Park of Bronxville, an enclave that began as an artist colony at the beginning of the 20th century. Both executives in the technology sector wanted a place away from the crowd, but with a short journey and good schools for their three children, and a cozy atmosphere thanks to the passable streets and friendly neighbors.

Built in 1907 by the architect William A. Bates, The 700 square meter Gothic house seemed distinguished But not imposing thanks to the wide natural light: «With broad porches and an exterior of stone and tiles, the house seemed warm and cozy. It had the feeling of being built between the branches of the trees that surrounded it,» the owners, Alexa and Prosper, comment, by email. Inside, oak panels on the walls and featured windows contribute to give a traditional sensation. There was only one problem: the house did not reflect exactly the personality of the couple.

«Despite the natural light, there was no sense of breadth,» says Interior Designer Andrew Suvalsky, of Andrew Suvalsky Designs (ASD), whom the owners called to reimagine space: «[La casa] He needed a younger and fresh approach to highlight his great features. It was an old English house, but that asked to be taken to the 21st century. «As tracks, Suvalsky looked at the couple's love for entertainment, Alexa's inclination for color and animal motif Golden Retriever of the family and the frequent guests: «One of the main inspirations was the fun and lush lifestyle of customers,» says Suvalsky: «Alto glamorplayful and brilliant: that was the atmosphere we wanted for the whole house. «

The result is a sumptuous house that achieves a balance between tradition and experimentation. This dynamism is evident as soon as you enter the lobby, where a high bright wedgewood blue paint roof It acts as an unexpected counterpoint to restored oak panels. The Roman satén curtains, the wall appliques, the stamped banks and the carpet resume the blue motif, which appears in all other rooms.

Alexa says that the dining room is «a contrast study: light and beautiful during the day, sexy and vibrant at night «; here, a Tapiz paper by gournay presents a landscape in layers, and a Murano crystal lamp and wall appliques provide an additional touch of botanical inspiration. «Tapiz paper gave us a lot of information,» says Suvalsky. «His melon tones, roses and peaches are so delicious.»

As if they crawl from this main scenario, subtle animals references splash the residence, From tigers in the upholstery of the room to a discreet carpet with cheey print in the main bedroom.

The surprises continue in each corner, whether personalized sofas in jewel tones in the room or photographs with golden frames of icons of the icons of the Rock and roll In the bar zone. «Traditional already measured, but with a fun and avant -garde touch: that was the line that followed each room,» says Suvalsky, whose dedication to capture the essence of the family has paid off. «We have been living in the house for two years and every time we enter the door we are a little surprised,» say the owners. «It's a beautiful and happy place, and we love it.»
