A small department of 60 m2 full of light and functionality

A large living room, a real kitchen, a bedroom and a bath of good size … having bought the adjoining land to expand it, the owners of This small apartment of 60 square meters In the Ternes neighborhood they knew very well what they wanted when they turned to the services of the interior architect Apolline Terrier: create a large living room. “It was a close collaboration between us. The idea was to have a lot of light. In all rooms the roof windows stand out, such as the one that already existed in the kitchen. ” In the new room, two great openings were made on the ceilings, which had to be rebuilt to improve the insulation and integrate an air conditioning system.

In the dining room, the Claraboya and the crossbar that gives to the kitchen they create a circulation and give this department under cover a sensation of space.

As the small apartment is on the last floorwith many inclined roofs, the space is visually cleared by integrating storage spaces in the lower parts of the ceiling, which allows to create openings and perspectives, as well as play with light and volumes. But we must also think about maintaining coherence between the newly created rooms and the existing ones. We worked on soil connections, as well as paint; The small strips parquet remained, but it was sanded and oil to better capture the light and adopt a more contemporary character. “We created openings, so there had to be harmony between the rooms. The kitchen was the starting point, and as it is open to the room, it is its blue that flows. ” A navy blue that enters the library, giving depth to the room and integrating books, objects and a large television screen much better than white.

The sauce, with its clear parquet and its white walls, is deliberately sober to accommodate the furniture that the owners already possessed.
