But All world accessories are useless if you don't know how to put the table correctly. And it can often be more complicated than it seems: a «formal table» search, throws no less than a dozen possible formations, many full of forks and vessels of outdated seafood for each type of imaginable drink. How to put the table for a daily dinner
- Place an individual tablecloth, if you are going to use one.
- Place the food plate in the center of the table.
- The fork is placed to the left of the plate.
- Place the knife to the right of the plate and then place the spoon to the right of the knife.
- Place the glass of water in the upper right corner, above the knife.
- The napkin can be placed on top of the plate or under the fork.
How to put the table for informal meal
- Start by placing an individual tablecloth.
- Place the dish in the center of the table. If you are serving salad, place the salad plate on the food plate.
- Place the fork to the left of the plate. If you are serving salad, place the salad holder to the left of the dinner.
- Place the knife to the right of the plate and then place the spoon to the right of the knife.
- Place the glass of water in the upper right corner, above the knife.
- Place the glass of wine (either a glass of red or white wine, depending on what you are serving) to the right of the glass of water.
- The napkin can be placed on the dishes or under the fork.
How to put the table for formal events
- Start by placing a fresh tablecloth. Then place the food plate in the middle of the table. (For a more traditional table, place a load plate under the food plate).
- Then add the salad plate on the food plate.
- The bread plate must be placed on top of the dinner and salad plate. The butter knife can be placed horizontally on the bread plate.
- The dinner holder goes to the left of the dinner plate and the salad holder goes to the left of the dinner fork.
- Place the knife to the right of the plate and then place the spoon to the right of the knife.
The dessert spoon must be horizontally placed on the food plate. - Water and white and red wine drinks go in the upper right corner. The glass of water must be closer to the guest (since they are expected to drink more water than wine), and the red wine glass goes just behind the white wine glass.
- Fold the napkin (or use an elegant napilletero) and place it on the salad plate.
- Add a place card above the dessert spoon. Write the name of the guest on both sides so you can find your seat and guests on the other side of the table know who they are talking with.
- The coffee cup and the saucer can be placed under the vessels with the dessert plate.
