With an impressive 1000 liter aquarium you can fulfill your dream of a beautiful tank with colorful discus fish or angelfish.

Many different underwater worlds can be created in such a huge pool. A South American tank, a Malawi biotope or an Asian tank with bizarre stones and plants, everything is possible.

Setup of the pool

1st step: floor & decoration

Soil: For the soil, Tetra Complete substrates, gravel and sand come into question. First, 5 to 7 centimeters of breeding ground comes into the tank. This breeding ground is important for the plants. This is followed by the 10 to 12 centimeter thick layer of sand or gravel.

Large roots, stones and caves are very suitable as decoration. Roots like moorwood, talawa, riverwood, and bog red root are good options. Dragon Stones and ADA Manten Stones can also be used.

With such a large pool, it may make sense to set up two separate islands. This structure has a harmonious effect and offers the fish a lot of variety. If shrimp are to be used in the aquarium, a shrimp house is also part of the equipment.

2nd step: plants

After the gravel has been placed in the basin, the plants can be planted.

In aquascaping, ground-covering aquarium plants such as Glossostigma elatinoides or Hemianthus callitrichoides are often used. These ground covers have small leaves and a spreading habit.

Glossostigma elatinoides

Tongue Leaf is a very popular groundcover that grows quickly and forms a rich green carpet. Since it does not grow very high, it is well suited for designing the foreground.

Hydrocotyle verticillata

Hydrocotyle verticillata, Whorled Pennywort, is a very pretty plant with rounded leaves. It grows horizontally and likes light very much.

Microsorum pteropus ‘Latifolius’

This java fern has broad leaves and is therefore particularly suitable for 1000 liter aquariums. The plant is particularly robust and undemanding.

Limnophila sp. ‘Vietnam’

The Vietnam Swamp Friend grows graceful, narrow leaves. The star-shaped shoot tips look very pretty.

Bolbitis heteroclita ‘difformis’

Vesicularia dubyana christmas

The highly branched Christmas moss is highly branched and grows horizontally. It sticks well to the roots.

Bacopa monnieri ‘Compact’

The small fat leaf is particularly compact and branched. It is very robust and undemanding. However, the beautiful green plant grows slowly.

After the run-in phase, which lasts four weeks, the first fish can go into the tank. The water values should not have changed in the last week, otherwise it is worth waiting a few more days.
