In aquaristics, various species of catfish from the Loricariidae family are referred to as Plecostomus, sucker mouth catfish.

Hypostomus plecostomus is actually just one of these species.

Plecostomus or Plecco is often spoken of only briefly. Plecostomus can grow from 2 to 15 centimeters within 6 months.

You need wood in the aquarium for rasping.

Moorkien wood or mangrove wood is particularly suitable.

Red worms are suitable as an inexpensive substitute for Tubifex. Before feeding, the red worms must be excremented and degummed in a sealable container on wet kitchen paper for about 2 days.

Vegetables are used unsprayed from the garden or balcony if possible. Wild herbs may not be picked next to highways and crop fields.

Every now and then a food-free day should be inserted.
