The red-eared slider gets its name from the red cheeks, is very often kept as a pet and should always find the right conditions. In the meantime, however, importing them to Germany has been banned, so that the animals can also be seen less frequently.
acquisition and maintenance
In order for the red-eared slider turtle to be able to lead a life that is as species-appropriate as possible, all necessary measures should be taken before purchasing it. Since the animals can grow up to 25 centimeters long, the aquarium must be ready at least one meter long 45 centimeters. If you want to keep the red-eared slider turtle in the pond, you should pay attention to a suitable fencing. But no matter where the animals ultimately live, they should always have enough space available.

gender differences
The male red-eared sliders become 25 to 22 centimeters long even the females between 17 and 28 centimeters. The main difference between the two is the tail. This is slightly longer in the males. In addition, the female animals usually have slightly longer claws.
