The behavior is interesting. The animals skin themselves, threaten fish with their claws, sense their surroundings with their antennae, jump backwards when threatened and use their grasping feet to eat, catch and hold on.
Almost everything that remains on the ground is eaten. Catfish tablets, for example, are eaten with pleasure.
The crabs dig very hard, shifting the substrate and digging up plants. A relatively harmless game is when they keep shoveling the substrate forward as soon as the owner shovels the substrate backwards.
It’s annoying that the animals like to eat plants. Harder plants such as java fern may be spared.
However, the crabs can also nibble on fish. For example, the tails of sleeping but completely fit guppies are eaten off and the fins of nimble armored catfish are cut off. Sometimes whole fish are caught.
