21 types of tulips to steal your heart

There are so many different types of tulips you get lost when choosing the perfect variety for your flower beds.

Making sure you have the right tulip for your garden conditions is just as important as learning when and how to plant bulbs to ensure you have the best flowers possible.

Tulips originate from an area of ​​Turkey eastwards towards China, passing through Azerbaijan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan. They grow in regions where springs are hot and humid, summers are hot and winters are cold.

Its cultivation as a garden plant probably began in Turkey, where long, elegant flowers were favoured. They became the official flower of the Turkish court and during the 1700’s lavish tulip festivals were held.

1. “Black Hero”

A tulip with dark double flowers, with satin petals and a long lasting season. Good for deep garden pots, looks great with bright orange tulips, and is also excellent for flower trimming and decorating. Height: 45 cm.

As tall and graceful as its name, this is a bold orange flute-shaped lily flower type tulip. It also has the added bonus of giving off a lovely scent. Height: 60 cm.
