This beautiful seedling, shaped like pendants, is called Princess’ earring. It is a hybrid species, generated from the genus fuchsia.
In addition to an extensive range of colors and combinations, the branches can be created as flowers singles, doubles or semi-doubles. Insert into your decor at hanging baskets or vasesgiving a touch of color to the house.
For a long time, the plant was considered an outdoor plant, often being thrown away after flowering is over. However, after going for a while with little activity, a new set of sprouts will emerge. As soon as the leaves fall off, reduce the watering and move it to a cool, dark room.
To better understand the princess earring, we separate some important facts and precautions. Find out what to do to make them grow in a healthy way:
Light
The plant likes shinning lightbut it shouldn’t get full sun – only consider the latter alternative if you can keep the roots adequately moist and cool. Using them as branches for shade is also a good method, which is why they are considered great types for interiors.
Water
Be mindful of the growing season as the soil needs to be kept continuously moist. Hot, dry roots will cause it to die. Then make sure they are always fresh and watered. After flowering, decrease water in preparation for hibernation.
Temperature
Because it grows at around 21 degrees celsius, leaving it hot for too long is not healthy. During the winter period, the ideal temperature is 10 or 15 degrees.
Ground
A rich, fast-draining mixture is the best choice.

Fertilizer
During the growing season, fertilize a lot! The species is a great feeder and many growers feed it a weak liquid fertilizer every watering (weekly) during this period. Also opt for controlled release pellets.
Propagation
For easy propagation, cut the tips of the leaves. For best results, use a rooting hormone.
After removing the seedlings, place it in a well-lit place with high humidity. Another important care is to keep the soil continuously moist, but not soaked. Thus, new growth should appear within a few weeks.
replanting
Attention, do not transfer the branches to a new location until they are established or when they are with little activity, in winter.
Additionally, they require a rich supply of organic matter to flourish and perform best. Therefore, try replanting the seedling in another pot with new soil, even if you are not transferring it to a larger compartment.
Add some controlled release fertilizer granules to dmake it stronger.
How to avoid problems?
In order not to have the presence fungi and pestsbe careful that the leaves do not touch dirt.
Whiteflies can be a problem for princess earring and should be treated at the first sign of an infestation – look for white webs on the underside of leaves. When treating, spray the underside of the leaves well to break their life cycle.
