Homemade preservatives to keep your food fresh
We use preservatives to be able to store fruits, vegetables and products (for example homemade tomato sauces) for much longer, especially when the ingredients are no longer in season, without them going bad. It is something we do routinely, for example when we keep leftovers in a container in the refrigerator, although we do not notice it.
Other times we add certain ingredients such as salt or vinegar to make things last longer. Thanks to this we can reduce the amount of food we throw away, the garbage we produce, and the price of purchases, since we do not have to replace things that we have had to throw away.
Preserving food properly is essential for avoid undesirable bacteria, molds and other organisms that can make it inedible. Write down these very simple guidelines for using homemade preservatives and put them into practice.
