Sumatran barbs or moss barbs should best be kept with live (school) fish of the same size, as they are very hectic and lively themselves.

All fish with threads or long fins are in principle unsuitable for socialization, since the barbel tend to eat the threads and fins of the fish.
When socializing, it is important to ensure that the barbel swarm is large enough. It should consist of at least 8 fish. According to experience, around 16 barbs should live together in a swarm.
If you opt for barbel, a species tank would not be a bad alternative either.
