causes
Skin clouding is caused by the increased formation of mucus on the (mucous) membranes of the fish. Skin opacities are best recognized on darkly colored areas and on the eyes. Skin opacities are usually triggered by various parasites, e.g. e.g.:
- Ichtyobodo
- Trichodina
- skinworms
- gillworms
Unicellular parasites that live on the skin of fish are also known as skin turds. A few skin blemishes are found on many fish. These are typical weakness parasites. They only multiply strongly when the living conditions for the infested fish are unfavorable. It is often sufficient to combat it if the housing conditions for the fish are quickly improved.
Bacterial diseases often occur as a result of skin clouding or infestation with parasites. The skin damage caused by the parasites are points of attack for bacteria.
Skin opacities should definitely be examined with a magnifying glass that is as good and strong as possible. If the cause is an infestation with skin worms, they can be recognized by their typical appearance and their snaking movements.
Skin opacities due to parasite infestation can be associated with skin necrosis, e.g. B. be confused by columnaris. Hazy eyes often occur together with poppy eyes.
Skin imperfections often look very similar to white spots, which are commonly caused by bacterial infections.
treatment suggestions
