Typical of the fish are their small mouths, with which they exclusively fine live or frozen food can eat.
The shy animals need their swarm to feel comfortable. He gives them security. Sufficient hiding places in the tank like Caves, roots, plants or stone structures offer additional security. The fish like to stay in densely planted areas. Sand or fine gravel is sufficient as a soil.
gender differences
Distinguishing the sexes is not easy. The Males are colored a touch more intensely.
During the mating season, the females can be recognized by the spawning clusters they carry on their abdomen.
breed
It is interesting to watch breeding in the aquarium. After an intense courtship display, the male embraces the female during mating. The female releases her eggs in the form of a spawning cluster away. She keeps this bunch on her abdomen for a few days, until she eats one spawn mop/wool mop or strips plants. The spawning mop with the eggs should be moved to a breeding tank. Alternatively, the breeding pair can move to the breeding tank before courtship.
In the breeding tank the pH constant at 6.8 and the Temperature constant at 24 °C being held. The young fish hatch after 1 to 2 weeks. In their first week of life, they should be accompanied four to five times a day paramecia, infusoria or fine powdered food to be fed. Then they are big enough for Artemia nauplii.
socialization
Neon medaka can be socialized with small, peaceful, calm fish and dwarf shrimp become. Crayfish should not move into the tank. Because medaka resides in the lower pelvic area, they could easily become their prey.
