The fish fall because of her colorful stripe pattern and big eyes in every aquarium. They move through the tank in swarms and show their interesting social behavior. In the lively hustle and bustle it can happen that individual animals jump out of the pool. As a precaution, one should appropriate coverage to be attached.

The fish love it when the water is extra being oxygenated and a gentle flow reigns. Suitable plants are Bucephalandra, Anubias or Cryptocorynes. Softer plants are eaten.

gender differences

The Males are more intensely colored and narrower than females. The blue band on the side runs dead straight through to the back.

In the females, it curves to the style of the caudal fin.

breed

Breeding should take place in a separate rearing tank, since the animals spawn robber are. They also eat the hatched larvae. Either a breeding pair or a male with two females is placed in the breeding tank.

In the breeding tank the Temperature increased to 26 to 28 °C become. The warm water and lots of live food increase the willingness to spawn.

The fish are free spawners. A female gives up to 300 eggs away. If the soil consists of coarse-grained gravel or glass marbles, it is difficult for the parents to reach the eggs. A spawning grid or slender plants also prevent them from eating their own offspring. It’s safest if that Breeding pair removed from breeding tank after spawning becomes.

The larvae hatch after about 48 hours. If the yolk sac is used up after 2 to 3 days, the Young fish fed with artemia nauplii or powdered food.
