What is a feed ring?
It is a ring that floats on the surface, into which you can sprinkle the food. When feeding floating flakes, it should help to avoid the unrestrained distribution of the same over the entire surface.
He usually does, but then there is quite a crowd at the feeding hole, which puts slower or less rowdy fish at a disadvantage.
You can buy feed rings in the store or make your own. This can be done by plugging together normal 4/6mm tubing of the desired size.
What is a feeding ring for?
- the food stays where you throw it, it is not swept around by the current (counterargument: swirling around causes the fish to hunt, which resembles their natural behavior)
- If the water surface is overgrown with floating plants, a part of the area can be kept free
- In larger (open) tanks, they can also be used for other purposes (by equipping them with a rope and suction cup) in order to fix larger floating plants such as mussel flowers where the eye of the beholder is comfortable
