General information about Blue Peru Tetras

Blue Peru tetras, Boehlkea fredcochui, are very good at jumping. The aquarium must be well covered because they can jump even through small openings.

They need very soft and acidic water. Suitable is z. B. a conductance between 100 and 150 uS and a pH between 5.5 and 6. A keen swimmer and current-loving schooling fish from the clear streams of the Amazon in Peru.

The socialization should only take place with small to medium-sized fish that do not feel bothered by the hectic nature of the Peru tetra. Mailed catfish, armored catfish and dwarf cichlids are suitable, for example. If the aquarium is too brightly lit, the magnificent colors of these fish do not come into their own. That’s why it’s worth using floating plants that dim the light a little. Well-filtered water and a strong current is important for your well-being.
