General information about black neon

Black tetras, Hyphessobrycon herbertaxelrodi, are among the tetra species that are most likely to show swarm behavior.

They usually stay in the upper third of the tank and like to swim against the filter flow.

White fin tips are normal.

Some black neon tetras have slightly whitish tips on the dorsal, anal, and sometimes caudal fins.

The dorsal fin in particular becomes whiter towards the tip. It is not a disease.

The white areas are often not visible in photos because flashes are usually used. The fins then look crystal clear.

With good lighting, the fins look great with the white trim.
