The Amrock chicken comes from the USA and was formerly from the original breed Plymouth Rock bred. These, in turn, were bred from various other breeds, including Dominicans, Cochins, and Javanese.

The species has long borne the name Barred Rocks, until it was later renamed Amrock. There’s the chicken not only big and heavy, but also a good egglayer.

That makes it one economically strong chickenthat too «Two Chickens» to be named.

The plumage of the Amrock chicken comes in different varieties, but in most cases it is a mixture of black and white.

This run as stripes over the body of the chicken and were decisive for the naming, which resembles a rock grain.

The Amrock Chicken is one peaceful and calm breed, which does not involve high demands. With a little patience, the animal will tame and not shy around people.

A sufficient large enclosure is important, otherwise the chicken is easy to keep and requires no further care. A low fence is sufficient as the animals can hardly fly. There should be a retreat for bad weather.

However, the animal tends to overfeedingwhich is why you should pay attention to how much the Amrock eats, especially in old age. Enough exercise and freewheel counteracts this.

So can the animal too look for food themselves and rarely needs to be fed by the owner. Too high a weight has a negative effect on the yield of the eggs, as the hen lays less.
