The decoration

First you set up the aquarium with the decorative material (roots, bamboo poles and larger stones). It makes sense to try different variants.

The furnishing should result in a harmonious overall picture.

Above all, the sides should be set up in a balanced way. You often see aquariums that have a central eye-catcher (e.g. a large root) in the middle. A midpoint gives the impression of stability and calm.

You should leave some space around the center so that the pelvis does not appear overloaded. In addition to hiding places, the fish also like free swimming space.

Tip: The decoration should be higher towards the back.

Natural materials are advantageous for setting up aquariums, as they do not emit any toxins and look very natural.

Roots, bamboo and rocks are some of the best furnishing materials, but clay pots and tubes also look very pretty.

Belonging to the best roots finger roots and red bog rootsbecause they can be greened particularly well with plants and are branched.

use plants

After the decoration is optimally placed, the plants are used. It is important to pay attention to the correct location of the plants. Each species prefers different lighting conditions.

Plants like Rotalas or Echinodorus, which like a lot of light, therefore belong near the windows.

Java fern (Microsorum pteropus) looks particularly good when planted in a finger root. Anubias and Bucephalandras are also suitable for greening roots.

The following plant stock is a good option for a 600 liter aquarium:

  • 1 creeping Ludwigia (Ludwigia repens)
  • 1 dense-leaved Rotala (Rotala macrandra)
  • 1 Karolina fat tart (Bacopa caroliniana)
  • 1 round-leaved Rotala (Rotala rotundifolia)
  • 1 Giant Vallisneria (Vallisneria gigantea)
  • 1 common water screw (Vallisneria spiralis)
  • 1 seaweed-leaved thrush (Heteranthera zosterifolia)

use fish

Of course, putting in the fish is the nicest, but you should give yourself plenty of time. The run-in phase lasts at least 3 weeks. However, it is better to wait four to six weeks before introducing the first fish.

All water parameters should have been stable for at least a week. In order for the fish to feel comfortable and stay healthy, it makes sense to be patient.
